a flow for every yogi

This multi-level class includes flowing sequences, assists, relaxation and meditation. Posture variations will be provided for all levels of practice, but descriptions are less detailed.

Basic Flow

This class is a practical introduction to the yoga practice. Join us for a slow Vinyasa sequence that includes the essentials but is a bit more vigorous than Gentle Warrior. New students are welcome.

Gentle Warrior

Stretch out and enjoy a gently paced contemplative class that instills comfort and strength. This is a perfect class for new students of any age, yogis who are returning to the mat after a period of absence, and pregnant women.

Relax & Renew

This is a restorative class ideal for rejuvenating the body both physically and emotionally. This class includes breathing exercises, gentle and supported postures (using bolsters, blankets, blocks, and straps), relaxation, and meditation.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini yoga is known as the yoga of awareness. Its practice will help deepen the connection to the divine self and the infinite. Using asanas, dynamic breathing techniques, mantras, and meditation we help strengthen and fine tune our inner landscape so we can elevate ourselves to reach a higher conscious state of harmony with all of our experiences.

Yin Yoga + Sound Bath Meditation

This unique practice focuses on the fascia and deep connective tissues, paving the way for a heightened meditative state. Supported by the instructor and an array of props, including blocks, blankets, and bolsters, find comfort as your body unravels deeply held tension. This class will end with a 15 minute crystal singing bowl and ocean drum sound bath meditation.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa is a practice of dynamic, flowing sequences that are designed to increase strength, flexibility, endurance and focus. It is an energetic practice that creates heat in the body. Some pose knowledge is helpful, but all are welcome.

helpful tips

Basics for BambooMoves Classes

  • Please do not wear shoes into the studio and arrive early for classes
  • If you’re late please wait until meditation has concluded before entering the classroom. Arrive no later than 5 minutes after class has begun.
  • Try to keep your voice low in the reception area as there may be private sessions or classes in progress.
  • Classes are at least 75- 90 minutes, unless otherwise noted on the schedule. Please make arrangements to attend the entire class and avoid leaving early if possible.
  • New students are welcome in all classes.
  • Try to avoid drinking water during the yoga classes. Drinking in the middle of class can be a distraction from your practice and changes the direction of the Prana (life-force) that you’re moving upward. Drinking water during class can also cause nausea.
  • Our studio is committed to a space that is free of discrimination and judgement, and encourages support and respect.

Always remember the ten yogic rules of conduct:

Do not harm; do not steal; do not lie; be modest; do not be greedy; be clean in thoughts, words, and deeds; be content; work hard and be disciplined; study the higher Self; and dedicate your efforts to the Divine.

Thai Yoga Bodywork

Thai Yoga Bodywork is an ancient healing modality where the receiver has the opportunity to surrender as the practitioner actively stretches and mobilizes them through assisted and supported yoga-like postures. There are elements of traction, energy work, accupressure, compression and deep breathing. The practitioner uses their own body weight and leverage to create pressure and effectively support the receiver in deep muscular release. This practice is ideal for anyone who is looking for increased range of motion, enhanced flexibility and it is beneficial and gentle enough for someone with tightness, previous injury and physical limitation.

Thai Yoga is done on a mattress on the floor, the receiver must wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes. Come prepared and ready to relax and reconnect.

Craniosacral Therapy

What is CranioSacral Therapy?

It is a medicinal modality that affects your central nervous system through light touch of the skull, neck, spine and sacrum. Catherine tunes into your unique system  and your body directs her to where you need restrictions removed.  In this case, ‘less is more’ and clients end up with a sense of well-being & having major pain and discomfort seemingly disappear.

Catherine Perman

Catherine is a NJ licensed massage therapist practicing CranioSacral Therapy and related modalities.  As an opera singer for many decades, she found CranioSacral Therapy to be an indispensible therapy for her body, mind, spirit, voice and career.  She would leave every single time feeling like something profound had shifted.  Being inspired by the changes within herself, she pursued CranioSacral Therapy training with a passion to heal and serve others.

What is Catherine’s typical process?

Everyone will be evaluated in the present moment. Adjustments made and corrected according to what your body dictates.  It’s hard to put a time frame on self-correction, but patience is needed indeed.  Typically clients may dose off for a quick nap while she works on them due to their relaxed central nervous system & awaken feeling refreshed.

Who seeks out CranioSacral Therapy?

People who have already tried many modalities and still are seeking relief from the following dysfunctions:

Headaches & Migraines   Scoliosis   Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder
Chronic Neck & Back Pain   TMJ Syndrome   Motor-Coordination Impairments
Spinal Cord Injuries    Fibromyalgia   Stress and Tension-Related Disorders

Loren has been a social worker for most of his career, working with people diagnosed with mental health and substance abuse issues.  He has enjoyed working in service of others but was always searching for more.  5 years ago, while in nursing school, he became very ill. Medical doctors were not able to help and he was forced to look at other modalities of healing. His father-in-law introduced him to yoga. As Loren learned more about yoga, he began the process of healing and strengthening his body and mind.  He and his wife, Ileana, have been able to explore the yoga world together over the last few years.  Loren started his training with Bamboomoves and then began to teach and heal at both Englewood and Palisades Park. Teaching and Healing drove Loren to join Bamboomoves, and purchase Palisades Park Yoga. Yoga has given him a method to stay healthy and happy with a strong body and mind.  He is inspired to be able to share what he has learned with others.
